The Redhead blunt

After a battlefield injury, some Norfolk re-enactors were prompted to seek methods of making archery in re-enactment safer. Most battles would not be complete without a shower or two of expertly placed arrows so the protection of both public and participants has become even more important. Re-enactor Gary Robinson fell victim to someone using a blunted arrow that had already struck a shield at close range. This unfortunate incident occurred when the arrow shaft drove through the rubber casing striking Gary's head causing unintentional damage and scarring him for life. This prompted Rod Matless, the driving force and head designer behind Interknife to investigate alternative protection methods for the largely accepted rubber blunts already in use. The result is Redheads. They feature 12mm of rubber up front, reinforced walls and no noticeable drop in performance. The arrow shaft is far less likely to burst through on impact with solid objects. "What we have come up with is a product that will last longer, is safer in normal use and is better value than most alternatives." Gaining in popularity with Field archers because of the increased accuracy. It must be stressed that any arrow is potentially lethal and the archer is ultimately responsible for where the arrow strikes. Please check with your club or society and follow its guidelines on shooting training. Redheads were introduced in May 1999 at the Cressing Temple re-enactors market. They will be on sale at most major events, from us On-line or from other reputable suppliers .

Interknife is seeking more European distributors for Redheads, dealing in traditional archery supplies.
